This year the workshop is going in new and exciting directions!

  • We are pleased to announce our keynote speaker, Dr. Richard Borowsky of New York University, preeminent in the use of Mexican cavefish for evolutionary studies. In the past 10 years, use of the cavefish as a research model has grown exponentially, and Dr. Borowsky will provide an overview of the history and benefits. To continue the theme and tie in with the host city of San Antonio, Dr. Dante Fenolio, the Vice President of Conservation and Research at the San Antonio Zoo, will speak on his work with cavefish from Texas, China, and Mexico.
  • The NIH Office of Research Infrastructure Programs (ORIP) will be participating at the workshop in an interactive community meeting discussing the affect of environmental issues on research results. ORIP is working to develop a path of action towards understanding, standardizing and reporting environmental parameters in animal models and is looking forward to the input from the aquatics (and zebrafish in particular) users with practical experience in this area.
  • New this year: Noise, Vibration, and Aquatic Animals

September 15, 2016 It Went Swimmingly: Recap of MACNA 2016
The Aquaneering booth was as busy as a coral reef at the 2016 Marine Aquarium Conference of North America in San Diego this past weekend. Conference attendees appreciated the professional, lab-grade quality systems and tanks that Aquaneering offers for ornamental fish and coral aquaculture.

Customers with new or established systems were also very interested in the Aquaneering aquaculture tanks because they said that the tanks were better suited to coral propagation.
Thank you to Reefers Garage of Vista, California for supplying the beautiful coral in the system.

Port Washington High School, winner of the 2016 eRack GiveawayCongratulations to the winner of the eRack Giveaway, Port Washington High School!

Located in southeastern Wisconsin, Port Washington High School is embarking on an exciting expansion of their STEM curriculum. PWHS is in an enviable location, with proximity to Milwaukee, Lake Michigan, Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW), and interactive science museums and nature centers.

Its location has given PWHS the opportunity to partner with CUW to offer Advanced Placement Environmental Science in 2017 and with MSOE for its Project Lead The Way (PLTW) program in Biomedical Sciences. Port Washington High School's new Aquaneering eRack will be an integral part of the PLTW program as students research heart and genetic diseases and other conditions using the zebrafish as their disease model.

Aquaneering is once again pleased to support the efforts of the Zebrafish Disease Models Society Education Research Interest Group, spearheaded by Dr. Christopher Pierret of Mayo Clinic and Dr. Michael Pickart of Concordia University.
